Poker Face

Do you ever have that itch? The itch to wager, to head to the nearest gambling den, to uncover a great stakes game of Holdem, to sit at a Chemin de fer table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also love to watch individuals bet. No two poker faces seem equal. When I gamble I like to believe I put on a poker face that is impassable. But I know I've certain gestures. For one, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I play poker or Twenty-one. And then I chain smoke. But I chain smoke whether I am succeeding or losing, whether I've a beneficial hand or bad.

I once played in a very weekly poker game. The game was usually 5 card draw. There was a man who wagered with us every single week who often wore a hat. When he was given a very good hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Pointless to say, he in no way won.

The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a guy who produced far more actions and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Often an expensive suit and tie, shoes shined and nails trimmed. He was meticulous in this manner. And he was generally brushing his pants or rubbings his hands or stacking his chips in tidy little piles.

I use to analyze him for hours. I'd attempt to see if I could notice his tell. Picking fuzz off his shirt- did this mean he was bluffing? Arranging his chips in a very short pile - did this mean he had a good hand?

Years later I bumped into him inside a bar in Chicago, il and we had a drink. I asked him if he were aware of all those motions he manufactured or if they were unconscious. He told me that every single little thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is often checking out everybody else's poker face. They're attempting to spot the the tell.

So his technique was to provide them lots to believe about. His thinking was if they had been pondering about him choosing a piece of fuzz off his coat and what it meant they certain weren't thinking about their cards.

His program was diversion. And it worked for him. By no means give up a process that operates for you.
